چکیده
Transfer Printing In article number 2214409, Virgilio Mattoli and co-workers develop a method to fabricate 3D two-photon polymerized microstructures onto complex (i.e. highly curved, multi-oriented or irregular) surfaces. Ultra-thin polymeric membranes serve as suspended sacrificial support print, handle, precisely transfer the microelements, few tens nanometers adhesive make latter conform on surface by van der Waals interaction.

Self-avoiding Polymerized Membranes
Recent progresses in the understanding of the scaling behavior of self-avoiding flexible polymerized membranes (tethered manifolds) are reviewed (joint works with B. Duplantier and E. Guitter, and with K. Wiese). They rely on a new general renormalization group approach for a class of models with non-local singular interactions. This approach allows to prove the existence of a ǫ-expansion for t...
متن کاملMetamaterials: Snapping Mechanical Metamaterials under Tension (Adv. Mater. 39/2015).
By exploiting snap-through instabilities, D. Pasini and co-workers design a damage-tolerant mechanical metamaterial that snaps sequentially under tension, thereby accommodating a very large deformation up to 150%. On page 5931, they describe how the nonlinear mechanical response of the metamaterial can be robustly programmed by tuning the architecture of its unit cell.
متن کاملBuckled Membranes for Microstructures
Based on energy variation methods we calculated the deflection of membranes under the combined load of an external pressure and an internal lateral stress. A lateral load gives rise to buckling once a critical load is exceeded. The combination of transversal loads and lateral loads changes the properties of the membrane (and other structures) in the vicinity of the buckling load: The membrane d...
